POSITION VACANCY ABOUT THIS POSITION Summary: The Assistant Teaching Professor in Kinesiology
at Colorado Mesa University is responsible for supporting the mission and culture of the University and the Department of Kinesiology. We
are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team in a full-time, teaching professor position commencing in August 2026. This role is
specific to our K-12 Physical Education discipline.
This pivotal role places a strong emphasis on teaching and advising, embodying
the core values of our institution. As an Assistant Teaching Professor in Kinesiology, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic
and professional development of our students in the K-12 Physical Education program, while actively fostering and leveraging existing
relationships with key organizations.
The average teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Instructing courses for K-12 Physical Education and
other Kinesiology programs. Courses include:
- Health & Wellness
- Foundations of Kinesiology
- Applications of Physical
Fitness and Exercise Prescription
- Organization, Management, and Legal Liabilities for Youth Fitness Programs
- Methods of
Lifetime, Individual, and Dual Activities
- Methods of Team Activities
- Methods of Creative Play, Dance, Gymnastics, and
Literacy
- School Health Education
- Health & Fitness Assessment
- Methods of Teaching Physical Education in Elementary
Schools
- Motor Learning
- Methods of Teaching Physical Education in Secondary Schools
- Pre-Internship in Physical
Education
- Student advising
- Service
- Managing the K/12 Physical Education Club
Salary:
$59,000-$64,000

Minimum Qualifications
Required: - Master's degree in Kinesiology or a closely related field from an accredited institution required.
- Scholarly
and professional activity and significant practical work experience in appropriate fields.
- College/university-level teaching
experience.
Preferred Qualifications: - K-12 Physical Education licensure
- PhD in related field
