Data Conversion Developer

Duration: 1+ year contract

Location: Onsite in Olympia, WA (MUST BE LOCAL TO WA)

Project Details: This person will be supporting the State of WA HBE project

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Business Analysts, data engineers, and project stakeholders to understand source-to-target mappings, business rules, and data transformation requirements.
• Design comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and reusable test cases for data conversion and ETL workflows.
• Validate data throughout the migration lifecycle by extracting, comparing, and analyzing data between source and target systems.
• Perform SQL-based data validation and reconciliation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of migrated data.
• Develop Python scripts to automate data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks where appropriate.
• Execute ETL testing to verify data transformations, mappings, and business logic.
• Identify, document, and troubleshoot data discrepancies, working closely with development teams to resolve defects.
• Support integration and system testing efforts related to data conversion activities.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years experience with SQL and Azure SQL.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience using Python for data analysis, automation, or validation.
• Experience performing ETL testing and validating complex data migration processes.
• Ability to analyze large datasets and compare source and target data for accuracy.
• Strong understanding of data mapping, transformation logic, and data quality principles.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with data conversion or migration testing on large enterprise implementations.
• Experience developing automated data validation or reconciliation scripts.
• Familiarity with enterprise data warehouse or cloud-based data platforms.
