We are seeking an Vice President of Accounting on behalf of our Sacramento based client. This leader will serve as a strategic partner to senior management providing hands-on oversight of financial operations and contributing to high-level organizational decision-making. The role is responsible for managing all accounting functions including the production of timely financial reports maintenance of accurate accounting records and implementation of controls and budgets that support compliance with applicable accounting standards and reduce financial risk.

The Vice President of Accounting will oversee the finance team establish and update financial policies and procedures and manage budgeting credit and cash-flow activities. This position requires the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage a wide range of accounting responsibilities including general ledger oversight financial reporting and preparation for annual audits. The selected candidate will prepare and present financial results to executive leadership ensuring they are informed of variances trends and financial impacts relevant to operations.

  • 100% onsite for the first 6 months then will move to a hybrid schedule.
  • Salary: $160000-$180000 DOE.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees accounting operations including ledgers reporting systems audits and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains strong internal controls ensuring accurate revenue cost budget and expenditure management.
  • Prepares and presents timely financial reports supporting budgeting forecasting grants management and organizational decision making.
  • Leads annual audit activities coordinating with external auditors and internal stakeholders to address findings and implement improvements.
  • Supports senior leadership through financial planning monitoring budget performance and communicating organizational financial health.
  • Implements and enhances financial contract and reporting systems to ensure accurate billing collections and cash flow stability.
  • Develops and updates financial policies procedures and departmental workflows while providing training and guidance to staff.
  • Manages team performance through recruitment supervision coaching communication and ongoing professional development.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
  • Advanced credentials such as a CPA or MBA are preferred.
  • Brings extensive experience in financial and operational management including budgeting forecasting audits and full-cycle accounting.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical organizational and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to interpret complex financial data.
  • Effectively able to manage multiple leaders or managers balancing priorities workflows and departmental deliverables.
  • Maintains exceptional accuracy and attention to detail while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possesses advanced proficiency with accounting and reporting systems financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally fostering collaboration confidentiality inclusivity and positive working relationships across teams.
  • Adapts quickly to change manages competing priorities and meets all role-specific compliance technology and mobility requirements.
