Mechanical Equipment Repair Technician - MercyOne Genesis Medical Center - 1st Shift

Job Summary

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of mechanical and equipment repairs to support the safe, reliable operation of a hospital facility. This role focuses on maintaining critical building systems to ensure a comfortable and compliant environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and perform repairs including replacing plumbing fixtures, rodding drains and pipes, identifying and stopping leaks, and rebuilding flush valves
• Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on HVAC systems, pumps, boilers, chillers, and related equipment
• Monitor and adjust the Building Automation System to maintain patient and staff comfort
• Conduct generator testing and inspections
• Replace light fixtures, bulbs, ceiling tiles, and respond to general building maintenance issues
• Utilize drawings, wiring diagrams, and operations and maintenance manuals to diagnose and repair equipment
• Coordinate specialized repairs and maintenance with external vendors and contractors
• Perform preventive maintenance on emergency power systems, emergency lighting, HVAC equipment, ice machines, refrigerators, and other building systems as assigned
• Conduct routine inspections of buildings and mechanical rooms in accordance with the maintenance program

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical equipment repair, or a related field preferred
• Experience working with HVAC, plumbing, boilers, chillers, and mechanical systems
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to follow up on maintenance tasks and work independently
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
• Experience with Building Automation Systems
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management or work order systems preferred
