Position Summary

Perform routine and complex clinical procedures with minimal to moderate supervision. Recognize unusual results or difficulties and make necessary simple corrections and adjustments. Bring complex problems to the immediate attention of the Supervisor. Responsible for quality, efficiency, and safety in the performance of technical work. Properly handles specimens, supplies and equipment. Provides care to patients of varying ages with age related needs.

Minimum Position Requirements

Work Experience:

• One year of recent Clinical Laboratory experience, preferred.

License/Registration/Certification:

• Certified/registered as a Medical Laboratory Technician with A.S.C.P., N.C.A., or equivalent.

Education and Training:

• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an approved college or university, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489.

Skills:

• Proficient in Clinical Laboratory procedures and familiarity with modern Laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge and familiarity with L.I.S. and personal computers.
• Communications skills and knowledge of English grammar and punctuation.
• Ability to troubleshoot and make minor instrument repairs.
• Handles multiple priorities, Independent discretion and decision making, manages stress appropriately, works in close proximity to others or in a distracting environment, works with others effectively, Makes decisions under pressure, manages anger/fear/hostility and works alone effectively.
